How To Host a Show
Written by Topline Staff · Last updated: May 2026
Overview
Show hosting is a massive part of Topline — it is what builds your stable's (and horses') reputation and prestige within the game. We have a very flexible and robust show system and understand that it can be a bit overwhelming at first. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Basic Show Details
Before filling out any information the first step is to choose whether you want to host a Horse Show or a Dog Show — it defaults to horse shows. Both types share all the same basic information:
  • Region
  • Show Name
  • Association (optional)
  • Entries Close — defaults to the day before the show date
  • Show Date
  • Description (optional)
  • Show Entry Fee — used for all classes if class-specific fees are not provided, or if the class is not set to free (optional)
  • Show Prize Pool — applies to classes where the class prize pool is not set to 0 (optional)
  • Show Wide Breed Restrictions (optional)
Pre-Defined Classlists
The Admin Team has put together a number of pre-defined classlists to make show hosting as simple as possible. Choose a classlist from the dropdown under Load Template and click Load — the classes will be appended to any existing classes you have already added.

You can click the pencil icon on any class to edit its details, including entry cap, entry fee, prize pool, and breed restrictions.

Manually Adding Classes
You can also populate your show by adding classes manually and tuning each one individually. The available options are:
  • Class Name, Discipline, and Level — self-explanatory.
  • Tests — applies mainly to Dressage and Western Dressage, which have multiple tests to choose from.
  • Entry Cap — the maximum number of entries allowed for the class.
  • Entry Fee — the per-animal entry fee for the class.
  • Free Entry — tick this if the class is free to enter.
  • Prize Pool — the prize pool for the class. For multi-phase classes this applies to each phase individually.
  • Young Horse — restricts entries to horses and ponies aged 4–7. Applies to in-hand and under saddle classes.
  • In Hand — marks the class as in-hand. Does not require a discipline and can be tuned to restrict by gender or age group.
  • Breed Group — opens the class to a specific breed group.
  • Individual Breeds — opens the class to specific breeds only. Overrides the breed group setting if set.
Running Your Show
Running a show in Topline is simple. Once the show date has arrived, click the Run Show button on the show page. Results will be processed automatically — entry fees collected and prizes paid out.

Voilà — you've hosted a show!
ℹ Notice
If a show is more than 7 days past its show date and has not been run, any member may run it and receive the Laurels for doing so. Entry fees are still paid to the original host.
